Kalli has a lot of toys. And I mean A LOT! She gets them from practically everyone. All of them seem to want to spoil her. Tita "Ey ey" (Kalli talk for LA), however, has the record for the most number of "pasalubong". We don't even know where to put them anymore.
Anyway, Kalli loves all of her toys. I guess one big reason why everyone keeps giving her stuff is because you can really see on her face how much she appreciates them. She gets all twinkly eyed and excited when you tell her you have "pasalubong". And that's not just for toys. She appreciates everything - clothes, food, even things that are really not for her! And she has learned to say "thank you" too (actually that's ngengoo, hahaha) - so that's added consuelo ;)
But I digress...
Of all her toys, her favorite are her stuffed animals. She cuddles them, talks to them, plays with them... she knows all their names.
But her most favorite of all is Winnie the Pooh.
Pooh is tita LA's old toy that Kalli made her own. And Pooh is her best friend. She plays with Pooh all the time. She makes Pooh drink her milk (with the bottle cap on of course). She carries him on her arms and pretends to put him to sleep (and that's pretty difficult for her since Pooh is just a little smaller than her). She plays her blocks with Pooh, making him hold them and move them around. She dances with Pooh, making him do her dance steps (with mommy's help of course). She sings to him, reads to him and teaches him her flashcards. When Kalli's not in the mood to learn her cards, I usually tell her to teach Pooh. She would then tell Pooh what the letters or the drawings are on the cards.
Lots of times she wouldn't wear her nappy unless Pooh wears one too. At first I used the XXL left-over nappies from my baby shower games. When they were gone, grandma used the"lampin" (cloth diapers) for Pooh's nappy. You would also find Pooh wearing some of Kalli clothes sometimes. And when I dry her and powder her after a bath, I would also need to dry and powder Pooh too. I sometimes feel like I have 2 kids! Lately Kalli has also learned to seek Pooh for comfort. When she's in a tantrum, she'd go to Pooh, hug him tight or lay her head on Pooh's tummy and cry "Pooh, Pooh". Kala mo inapi! She's such a drama queen, hahaha.
Anyway, Leo and I are thinking that maybe she wants to have a brother or a sister already. Or maybe she just needs another kid to play with since all her playmates are grown-ups. Or maybe kids are just like that - playing pretend and making use of their imagination.
I don't think it's harmful to Kalli to have Pooh as her best friend. I actually find it quite adorable.
Don't you? :)
