Kalli asked her dad, "Dad, is someone reading us from a book? Is someone watching us on DVD?" Her dad answered, "Hmmm, maybe God is reading us from His book." Kalli replied, "No dad, we're real! We're real, right?". Her dad asked her then, "How do you come up with these questions, Kalli?" Kalli then said, "You know, I keep thinking of stuff. My brain keeps thinking of stuff."
Kalli went to the mall with her dad today. She came home with this, for me :) She read the print on it saying "I love you forever". Then she said, "I bought you this so that even if I get angry at you, you'll look at it and remember that I still love you forever". I'm so blessed to have the sweetest kid! :)
Kalli saw me watching America's Top Model on TV one day. The next day, she wanted to play "model model". She wanted her dad to take her picture, call her name, then give her the picture :D
Some of our weird/memorable conversations with Kalli:
SEPTEMBER 18, 2010 Mommy: kalli, you're going to a party. You should wear pants. Kalli: I want to wear a dress Mommy: But Kalli, you will be playing with other kids there. You should wear pants cause you'll be jumping and running Kalli: I'm not going to run. I'm going to dance. That's why I want to wear a dress!
SEPTEMBER 24, 2010 Mommy: "Tita LA made muffins Kalli. She's the muffin girl." Kalli: "Who am I?" Mommy: "You made popcorn yesterday so you're the popcorn girl." Kalli: "But Mamu cooked the poporn. I just waited. I'm the lady in waiting!" Padumpum! ;)
Okay, so here's another one showing how hot air rises. Tita LA's inner scientist is unleashed and she can't stop giving Kalli experiments, hahaha. And guess what? Kalli's loving every minute of it! :D
Kalli finally finished her first book! She cut the words, pasted them into the pages, and drew the pictures. She even made a few sentences on her own! Now she's ready to read to her friends :) Good job girl!
Kalli is learning phonics and, to help her, I thought of making a book with her that she can read. Since she loves to draw too, I thought it would be the perfect project for her. She said she wants to make a book that she can read to her stuff toy friends :D
We're doing it a page at a time cause I don't want her getting so stressed with reading the sentences that I make. She also tries to make her own sentences.
Below are the pages we've done so far. We're really so proud :)
Kalli said her classmate pushed her today. She fell on the floor. I asked her if she told her teacher. She said the teacher saw it happen and said the other girl was bad. She made the other girl say sorry and Kalli told her teacher, "It's okay. I'm fine." Aww, my brave little girl :) I asked her why her classmate pushed her. She said she got angry because Kalli kept on tickling her. Hmmm, I guess my brave girl can be "kulit" too. I'm just glad Kalli didn't get hurt.
Kalli's in her Narnia stage. I finally let her watch it after she saw some parts on tv. She liked the talking animals and mythical creatures. When we got to the final battle where the 2 armies were running towards each other, kalli said, "See mommy, I told you it's a nice movie!" Hahaha, she's so like her dad! She'll probably watch a lot of war movies with him when she grows up :D It's a good thing Narnia didn't have those bloody battles! I wasn't even sure if I should have let her watch it. But at least the worst thing they did there was turn the creatures into stone. And even those got fixed by Aslan in the end, so it's all good.
I wonder when she'll be ready to watch Lord of the Rings? Probably not for a long time yet :)
Kalli got a time out in school. She just told us about it this morning at breakfast...
Kalli: "The teacher got mad at me and punished me. She made me stand up and face the wall."
Mommy: "She did? Why? What did you do?"
Kalli: "I played with the strings. I said sorry and she let me sit on the blue line again."
Mamu: "How many were you?"
Kalli: "Three. Then I said sorry and there were two left cause the teacher said I can sit on the blue line."
Mommy: "Did the others say sorry too?"
Kalli: "No, but later the teacher let them sit on the blue line too and she wasn't angry."
Hahaha, I wonder what else she's been doing in school. Well at least she knows how to say sorry :D I'm starting to think she's one of the small troublemakers in her class! I can't wait for open-house :)
We were eating dinner with Kalli at this restaurant and our booth was against a mirror wall. Now Kalli loves mirrors! She likes making faces and talking to her reflection. She was doing all those things when she noticed the tiny scratch on her nose. She immediately launched into a fake cry and said, "I see the bubu on my nose! My face is not pretty anymore! I don't like my face anymore!" Hahaha, she was really into it, complete with bu-hu-hu sounds and dramatic facial expressions.
We couldn't help but laugh, which made Kalli say, "It's not funny mommy!"
Hahaha, so she was sticking to her role! That made me want to laugh harder! Of course I tried to resist and just teased her, "But Kalli, it is a little bit funny right?"
"It's not. It's not."
The waiters in the restaurant were all smiling and looking at her. Oh my little drama queen! :D
Kalli learned the word STUPID from TV (why do they use this word in kid's movies???) and has started using it. We told her it's a bad word. She liked saying it for the drama, but since we started ignoring her when she says it, this is what she tells us every hour now, "Sometimes I need to say bad words. My heart tells me I need to say it." What??? Oh my little drama queen!
Kalli told me after class, "We kept saying panget panget." I asked her why, thinking she picked it up from her classmates. She said, "Remember the bird kept saying it at the restaurant? Panget is the bird's name!" Oh no! And she even had her classmate chanting with her! I asked her what the teacher said. She said, "She got mad." Hala, baka mapatawag na ako sa school!
Sheila Lim (@aradaliel) 5/31/10 11:00 AM Kalli said, "I really love Papu. But sometimes I don't like playing with him." I asked her, "Why not?" She answered, "He's old!" Padumpum!
Sheila Lim (@aradaliel) 5/30/10 1:25 PM I was trying to help Kalli wear her shirt when she said, "I don't need help. I don't need help ever. I only need playmates." Ooops, SORRY :)
Sheila Lim (@aradaliel) 4/28/10 11:20 AM Kalli and I were watching "UP" when I said, "This is really a touching movie." Kalli replied, "Let's go touch it!"
Kalli said while drawing this, "Mommy, I'm going to write our names... oh, our letters - so you'll remember that we did this. Oh, and I'm going to put a heart cause we love each other."
Sheila Lim (@aradaliel) 3/24/10 12:36 PM Currently watching "Cars" with Kalli. She just said, "They're talking cars! Why are they talking? Who's inside them? Who's the driver?" :D
Sheila Lim (@aradaliel) 3/21/10 10:14 PM Kalli said a few minutes ago, "Mommy, if I eat so much I'm going to become a giant. I don't want to become a giant!"
Leo and I were at Powerbooks yesterday with Kalli and they were looking at the magazine section. I was in the other aisle but I can hear Kalli's loud chirpy voice very clearly (the entire store probably can too!)
Kalli - "Are these your books daddy?" (see, we each have our own section in the bookstore - kalli's books, mommy's books, and daddy's books).
Daddy - "Yes"
Kalli - "But they're all girls!"
Hahaha, I looked at the magazine wall and, true enough, the magazine covers are mostly girls! Wedding mags, fashion mags, and even FHM!
Kalli (trying to be helpful) - "Oh here, here! Here's a boy daddy!"
I was laughing so hard by the time I reached them! Even the sales ladies were laughing too :D Precious!
Sheila Lim (@aradaliel) 3/19/10 6:03 PM Quote of the day: "I don't want yaya to fall inlove!" Well, technically that was yesterday's quote. Still funny though :) Possessive girl!
Here's Kalli's drawing of the monsters in Monsters vs Aliens. She drew them all by herself from memory :) Susan is the blue big girl and notice how she's behind Bob and only part of her legs are showing. Kalli really is talented. I'm so proud! :)
Sheila Lim (@aradaliel) 3/10/10 11:27 PM Leo told Kalli, "Drink your water." Kalli said in a sad voice, "But Kalli did not." Hahaha, as if she didn't have anything to do with it!
Sheila Lim (@aradaliel) 3/10/10 7:14 PM "Mamu, finish all yours. I finished mine and now I'm sleepy. You gotta carry me cause I'm so sleepy" - Kalli, after drinking her mocktail :D
Sheila Lim (@aradaliel) 3/9/10 6:22 PM Kalli and I were drawing the monsters in Monsters vs Aliens when she suddenly said, "Link is always missing that's why he's missing link" Sent with Tweetie
Sheila Lim (@aradaliel) 3/9/10 9:17 AM Nicholas the cat sleeps a lot. Yakins & Brod barks loudly while Dutchy is often as quiet as our fishes in the pond. Welcome to our farm! :)
